Ashley Bouder Project returns with a program that includes the premiere of a solo performed by Ashley Bouder, created by Lauren Lovette, principal dancer with NYCB; and a new piece by Abdul Latif, current resident at the Broadway Dance Lab.
The Ashley Bouder Project is an arts collaborative dedicated to furthering the inclusion of women and marginalized people in leadership roles in the performing arts world.
The Ashley Bouder Project returned to the Joyce Theater on Monday, as part of the Joyce’s Ballet Festival, with a program of five dances to further its mission “dedicated to furthering the inclusion of women and marginalized people in leadership roles in the performing arts world.” Rounding out the program is Bouder’s elegant In Pursuit of…, which premiered in 2017 at Symphony Space. What’s evident from this performance by the Ashley Bouder Project is that behind the programming and the artistic decisions, there is a clear-sighted mind at work. Specifically, the ABP strives to work with and nurture talented individuals in the realms of choreography and musical composition. Ashley Bouder, star ballerina at New York City Ballet and public voice of feminism in the ballet world, recently produced her third year of the Ashley Bouder Project at the contemporary dance scene’s coveted Joyce Theatre.
